Carlita Shaw is an environmental and humanitarian writer with over 20 years of experience in ecology, advocacy, and frontline conservation. With a strong scientific foundation in Environmental Science and Wildlife Conservation, Carlita has devoted her life to environmental and indigenous rights, and was offered postgraduate scholarships, she choose instead a life of service on the front lines of conservation, with direct action and community-based projects across Latin America and Europe.

She has worked hands-on in the Amazon rainforest as a project developer, educator, and conservationist, spearheading biodiversity conservation initiatives, innovative ecological economy models, and biodiversity land trust programs in collaboration with Indigenous communities. Her work has taken her to Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, and several European countries, where she has also been active in grassroots humanitarian efforts-alongside this she has been rescuing over a hundred street dogs and cats in these countries, rehomed many and is always involved in animal advocacy work.

Carlita’s writing blends ecology, mental health and well-being, science, activism, with storytelling and she sometimes even writes poetry.

A storytelling project

She began writing twenty years ago and published powerful advocacy content for NGO or charity campaigns. She collaborated with other grassroots organizations for enhancing environmental education and published powerful web content for various campaigns and private press outlets. Her writing journey began in 1998 after working as a press and public relations assistant at the British Museum in London. From there her work focused on wildlife, ecology and rainforest conservation of Ecuador, as in earlier work in The Ecologist (2013).

In addition to environmental reporting, she spearheaded numerous environmental conservation initiatives and an innovative Biodiversity Land Trust and alternative ecological economy project for empowering indigenous communities to protect their ancestral land keeping the value in rainforest biodiversity instead of in the oil beneath the soil. She still is passionate about sharing indigenous voices from Amazonian leaders and marginalized communities.

Alongside her environmental work, since childhood, Carlita has long been fascinated by multidimensional realms, past lives, near-death experiences, and out-of-body journeys, many of which she has personally experienced. This is what attracted her to training as a specialist in Past Life Regression and Clinical Hypnotherapy with Janis Ericson in San Francisco, deepening her ability to help others heal through navigating and coaching the subconscious mind. Since then, she has supported clients as a clinical hypnotherapist, sound healing and mindset life coaching, with a focus on mental health, emotional well-being, and the deeper layers of inner transformation.

Carlita’s own health journey has shaped her path. From a young age, she struggled with asthma and frequent bouts of bronchitis through cold English winters which drover her to warmer climates. A medical anomaly, she has undergone five surgeries since the age of fourteen to remove fast-growing but benign tumours, which appeared in different parts of her body, head, jaw, nasal cavatity, having to have tedious surgeries in some cases and a year on liquid food, (While benign tumors are typically considered non-threatening, some individuals experience the rare and poorly understood phenomenon of recurring fast growing benign tumors in multiple areas of the body, often without a clear genetic cause). These cases, although uncommon, highlight the complexity of benign conditions that can still be medically and emotionally challenging. Carlita developed an early interest in alternative cancer treatments and holistic medicine as a result of these health challenges, and has survived severe illnesses including malaria and septicemia. Facing many of these challenges alone, she has cultivated a strong mindset and deep resilience.

Her life was further shaken in South America, between 2017 and 2018, when her husband endured multiple kidnappings and torture before tragically passing in 2018. These personal experiences of profound loss, grief, and trauma on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels have become the foundation for the healing work she now shares with others.

Carlita offers grief and trauma recovery coaching that weaves together clinical hypnotherapy, Milton Erickson techniques, ecotherapy, and nature-based healing. Her approach is rooted in ecopsychology, Indigenous wisdom, deep ecology, and a compassionate understanding of living as a neurodivergence, and midlife ADHD diagnosis. She guides others with realigning their path after Trauma, burnout, grief, loss, brain injury, helping them reconnect with their inner strength, and the healing power of the Earth.

Carlita’s unique approach helps individuals cultivate resilience and reconnect with the Earth as a source of healing and renewal. She is passionate about the essential connection between nature and human well-being, believing it to be key to both personal and planetary health. As the author of several books and hundreds of articles, Carlita remains dedicated to bridging environmental awareness, ecosolutions, indigenous wisdom, planetary and human healing.

As I look forward to meeting new individuals, hearing their stories of challenges, achievements, and aspirations, I am reminded of the profound impact these narratives have. They are not just tales of personal triumph but echoes of a shared human experience. Each interview, each book, is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

For my Substack Subscribers

Thank you for Supporting my work

For those of you considering becoming a paid subscriber here is why it matters!

Why Supporting My Work Matters— I'm here as a product of Censorship & Cancel Culture, my controversial news site was hijacked and connected to a gambling site to silence and discredit me three years ago during the pandemic to prevent readers from reading my articles and books I was publishing, as we published truth and challenged the mainstream narratives. I had been on Wordpress for almost 20 years and had established an 80k readership but that has all gone, and it takes a long time rebuilding a readership elsewhere. Facebook have deleted my Environmental projects and news page and they banned my censored environmental books! Supporting my writing also means you are supporting my ongoing biodiversity conservation projects in the Amazon rainforest with the Shiwiar people of Ecuador.

My interviews and news explore information that reflects the issues we contend with as humanity stands at a pivotal nexus point. We are venturing into uncharted territory with emerging technologies that bring new challenges and evolving paradigms that push against old beliefs and agendas. In this transformative era, we become the new mapmakers and seed-planters.

1. Bridging Knowledge Gaps-As a neurodivergent female researcher and writer, I bring a unique perspective to challenging mainstream narratives and outdated perceptions. My work in environmental conservation, health freedom, free speech, and learning from the ancients, aiming to fill the gaps in understanding. Serving to bridge paradigms and navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing world, I have traveled to the far reaches of the Amazon rainforest with my work to learn from Indigenous voices and lived and travelled in over 15 countries in the last 18 years.

2. Championing Diverse Voices- Firstly, I have always had a unique perspective because of my Aspergers, ADHD, and dyslexia. I persevere despite these neurodivergent challenges. Moreover, being a woman means I have to work much harder to gain any recognition in what I do, I often feel invisible and that my work isn't gaining the momentum it deserves. Women often face additional hurdles in gaining recognition for their work. By supporting my efforts, you’re helping amplify a voice that challenges stereotypes and archetypes, valuing creativity, innovation, and substance over superficial expectations. A woman’s voice is often seen through a clouded lens of societal judgment and archetypes, where others feel compelled to place her in a predefined box—she is typically only validated by her attractiveness or for her academic achievements if she carries titles before or after her name. Otherwise, she has to work much harder to have her voice or work noticed compared to her male peers, as we still live in a patriarchal world, that's why it's valuable for us all to support the work of independent female researchers, writers, journalists, artists, filmmakers, digital media producers.

3. Fearless Exploration- There have been times in the past where I have found myself in some very challenging life-or-death scenarios. That’s why I feel I have nothing to lose anymore and I am wholeheartedly committed to tackling topics that others may shy away from, because they might challenge the mainstream narratives, encouraging critical thinking and fostering meaningful dialogue. Your support enables me to continue my commitment to creating impactful work that goes deeper than the average person chooses to go, and inspires and informs.
